Membership Info: Dates Available, Pick-Up Locations & Times, Selecting Items, Share Size & Price ChartDates AvailableThe 2008 season will be 20 weeks of deliveries starting in June (depending on how the weather affects the start of the growing season). We have different delivery dates and drop-offs for different locations. See "Pick-Up Locations and Times" below. Throughout the season you will be allowed to reschedule 2 deliveries (if you’re on vacation, sick, your friend’s pet llama dies, etc.). We do, however, require a one week advance notice – so your share doesn’t get picked to rot. You can choose to get two shares another week (for a dinner party you’re planning) or extend your season. As long as everyone doesn’t extend their season, we should be able to accommodate. PRORATED LATE SHARE FEES - for those of you who are joining us late in the season, we prorate our share prices each week. Remember that your late share will not start the same week you subscribe - we need lag time to prepare for the added share. Pick-Up Locations and TimesOur 2008 drop points are mostly in concrete. We are still working on our Park City location because it will be linked with our daily produce stand location, which we are still working on. TUESDAYS LAYTON: Tuesdays, 1700 N Fort Ln, Layton, at the farm itself, after 3pm until 8pm. OGDEN: Tuesdays, at Beehive Cheese, 2440 E 6600 S, Ogden, after 3pm until 5pm. SANDY: Tuesdays, 796 E. Silver Sage Drive, about 108th South (changed), after 3pm until 8pm. SUGAR HOUSE: Tuesdays, 2681 South 1900 East, near Cactus and Tropicals (recent change), 3pm until 8pm. UTAH COUNTY: Tuesdays, 536 West 100 South, Lindon (by The Home Depot by the 1600 North exit off I-15), after 4pm until 8pm. LIMITED NUMBER OF MEMBERS since this isn't a regular drop, but one of our members is delivering from Sandy (unless we get enough to justify a full fledged drop point) WEDNESDAYS PARK CITY AREA: Wednesdays, 1951 Woodbine Way, @ Recycle Utah, 3pm until 7pm. This is a temporary drop location until we have established a place for a daily produce stand where we can pick up from. HEBER: Wednesdays, 245 West 100 South, Balance - Therapeutic Massage and Wellness Center, 4pm and after. FRIDAYS CUP OF JOE (SLC): Fridays, 353 W 200 S, two blocks from Pioneer Park, after 3pm until 8pm. We determined the most central pick up locations based on member density. Hint: get your neighbors to become members! If you are willing to have a pick-up location at your house, or if you know of an available public space, please notify us. Please be aware that since the food is picked at the peak of ripeness (because it’s yummiest that way), we recommend keeping a cooler in your car for the transport if you have to drive a long way. If you forget to pick up your produce, it will get delivered to a local food bank – and you will still get charged. We will send you a reminder e-mail each week with recipes for the produce you’ll be getting. Selecting ItemsWe have a produce line of over 600 naturally grown vegetable, fruit and herb varieties that will be made available to our members. It is the most thorough inventory offered to CSA members in Utah and we're excited to share our hard work with our membership. Each member will receive a selection of what is ripe that week. Because we’d like to be sensitive to any allergies and individual tastes, we give you the opportunity to “opt out” of any particular fruit or vegetable you don’t like (or that doesn’t like you). When you join, you will be asked to select any items that you never want included in your share. But please don’t “opt out” of an item just because you don’t know what it is or how to prepare it. We will help by providing recipes each week. And based on your feedback, we will continue to refine the list of what we grow. Keep in mind that we are the only CSA (that we know of in Utah) that customizes your items (with an opt out) each week; this adds to our work load, but we want to help our members. Share Size & PriceShares are available at 3 sizes. Our smallest share is much larger than the shares offered by other CSAs in the Salt Lake area. Our shares are meant to be large and varied enough so you don’t necessarily have to shop for any other produce. Our program is meant for people who would like to include fresh produce as part of their daily regimen. We find that having a large weekly delivery encourages this practice.
* Each subscriber will have 3 thick-walled wax coated boxes in constant rotation. Please remember to return your box each week for the next week’s delivery. Returning members will have the box fee waived for the 2008 season. |
