The member commitment

I, a member of Zoe's Garden CSA, in becoming a shareholder in Zoe’s Garden, pledge my support of Community Supported Agriculture (CSA). This means I agree to share the risks and benefits of producing my food, and commit to the concept of CSA, in which consumers and growers provide mutual support for one another. Buying directly from the farmer, I am supporting small, local farming rather than large-scale, industrialized agriculture, raising the quality of my family’s food, the farmer’s health, and of the care given to the land.

I am making a promise in advance to help the farmer cover the anticipated operating costs. In return, I receive a share of the farm’s bounty throughout the growing season, as well as the satisfaction of reconnecting to the land and participating directly in the production of my food. The farmer will receive a fair price for his/her produce, and by eliminating the middle man, I will receive the freshest, best-tasting naturally grown produce possible for the best value.

By owning a share in naturally farmed agriculture, I know that I am doing my part for the health of the earth and my community. I am investing in healthy, productive soil, biodiversity, and clean water. The food I eat will be free of harmful chemicals, and its production will not have introduced biotoxins into the air, soil, or water of our environment. I am paying upfront for the true cost of my food, since no government subsidies will be necessary for pesticide regulation and testing, hazardous waste disposal and clean up, and environmental damage.

By sharing in a local farm I am supporting my neighbors and my local economy and saving energy by eliminating long-distance transportation of food so common today.

My investment into this cooperative producer/consumer relationship makes it possible for skilled farmers with this vision and capability to survive and thrive.

I commit to returning my share box(s) each week so that the farmer will have a rotation of boxes labeled just for me. If I fail to return my share box two weeks in a row to the drop point, I agree to pay a fee to cover the cost to the farmer in time, energy, and expense.

I understand that I am expected to pick up my share within the drop location time frame. If I cannot pick up my share, I will contact the drop location host to make other arrangements that same day OR I can expect that my share will be donated the next morning. I understand that the produce is picked ripe and we do not want it rot or go to waste.
